Sambalpur: Hirakud dam authorities plan to open four sluice gates on Monday to release excess water from the reservoir following heavy rainfall. The gates will be opened in a phased manner from 10 am.
The water level in the reservoir stood at 629.27 ft at 6 am on Monday against the storage capacity of 630 ft. While the inflow is 91,508 cusecs of water, the outflow is 40,680 cusecs.

Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Ganjam and Puri districts have been sounded with orange warning on September 19 while the same warning has been issued for Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur and Nayagarh on September 20, and for Bargarh, Balangir and Nuapada districts on September 21.
