Heavy Rain Lashes Bhubaneswar, IMD Issues Orange Alert For 4 Odisha Dists Till 8.36PM Today

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange warning for four districts of Odisha till 8.36 pm on Friday.

Thundershower with lightning or heavy rain may occur at a few places in Cuttack, Kendrapada, Khurda and Nayagarh districts in next 2-3 hours.

People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.

Amid this warning, Bhubaneswar has been experiencing heavy downpour since 5 pm.

Notably, the IMD had warned of heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorm/lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph at one or two places in Nuapada, Sundargarh and Mayurbhanj on July 11. Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may also occur at one or two places in Balangir, Bargarh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada and Cuttack till 8.30 am on Saturday.
