Heavy Rain Leaves Bhubaneswar Waterlogged; Orange Alert Continues Till 6PM

Bhubaneswar: Three buses got stuck on the waterlogged stretch near Iskcon temple as heavy rain lashed Bhubaneswar on Wednesday afternoon.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange warning for six districts of Odisha, including twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, till 6 pm. Moderate rain/thundershower with lightning and one or two intense spell of rain may occur in some parts of Kandhamal, Kahahandi, Nayagarh, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Cuttack (including Cuttack city) and Nupada districts.

The weather agency has warned of waterlogging in low-lying areas, occasionally poor visibility and traffic disruption in urban area.

It has also issued yellow warning of light to moderate rain/thundershower with lightning for some parts of Balangir, Bargarh, Malkangiri, Jajpur, Sundargarh and Gajapati. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
