Bhubaneswar: Coastal areas and some parts of interior Odisha are likely to witness rain and thunderstorm during the next 24 hours, a bulletin issued by India Meteorological Department’s Bhubaneswar office said on Friday.
Under the influence of a low-pressure area formed over west-central Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coast, heavy rainfall is expected in Ganjam, Gajapati, Khurda, Cuttack, Puri, Malkangiri, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Nayagarh and Jharsuguda districts.
According to the met office, arrival of the southwest monsoon is likely to be delayed by two-three days. However, it rained at many places of the state, including the state capital, on Friday bringing in the much-needed respite from the scorching heat and humid conditions.
