Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange warning for seven districts of Odisha, including Bhubaneswar, till 4.15 pm on Friday.
Moderate thunderstorm/lightning with gusty wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph and moderate to heavy rain may lash some parts of Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Puri and Balasore in next 1-2 hours.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
With nor’wester active over Odisha, the state capital has been experiencing heavy rain and severe thunderstorm activity during the afternoon hours for the last 3 days.
According to the midday bulletin, thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph may occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri on Friday.
