Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded orange warning for Odisha’s twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack till 7.30 pm on Tuesday.
According to the weather agency, intense spells of rain (7 to 11 cm) is likely in some areas of the cities during this period. “Generally cloudy sky with a few spells of rain/thundershower with one or two intense spells of rain/thundershower (2-3cm/hr) is also likely in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack,” it further stated.
It has warned of temporary traffic congestion, poor visibility and waterlogging in low-lying areas.
The IMD had earlier issued a nowcast warning of light to moderate rain/thundershower with lightning and one or two intense spell of rain for some parts of Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Nayagarh and Balangir districts till 5.50 pm.
According to the midday bulletin, heavy rainfall and thunderstorm with lightning may occur at one or two places in Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Kendrapada, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nayagarh and Ganjam districts till 8.30 am on Wednesday.
