Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued heavy rainfall warning for 10 districts in the next 12 hours under the influence of a deep depression that crossed the north Andhra Pradesh in the morning hours.
In an evening bulletin, the IMD said that the deep depression which now lay centred in the west-north-west of Kakinada and the south-east of Khammam in Telangana is very likely to move in the west-north-west and weaken into a depression and further into a well-marked low-pressure area during the subsequent 12 hours. Under its influence, heavy rainfall will occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Khurda, Puri, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Kandhamal in the next 12 hours.
Besides, light to moderate rain or thundershower will occur at most places over the districts of south coastal districts, at many places over the south interior districts and at a few places over the north Odisha districts.
In view of the inclement weather, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along and off Odisha coast and the west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining the north-west Bay of Bengal till today.
