Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday said heavy rain will lash 16 districts of Odisha in the next 24 hours.
The IMD, in a mid-day bulletin, said the east-west shear zone tilting southwards with height will intensify the cyclonic circulation over the south Bangladesh and neighbourhood into a low pressure over the northwest Bay of Bengal around July 23.
Under its influence, there will be increased rainfall in Odisha from Tuesday afternoon after which most parts of the state will receive heavy rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in the subsequent 24 hours. Apart from the heavy rain, there will be thundershower and lightning at one or two places.
While the state will receive heavy rainfall till July 24, there will be no change in the weather condition till July 26, it added.
In view of the heavy rainfall, IMD has issued yellow warning for the following districts.
July 20
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Gajapati, Ganjam and Kandhamal.
Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Kalahandi.
July 21
Heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Cuttack, Khurda, Sambalpur and Deogarh.
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Keonjhar, Koraput, Malkangiri and Sundargarh.
July 22
Heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in Angul, Boudh, Sambalpur, Balangir, Bargarh, Kalahandi.
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Kandhamal, Nuapada, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Jajpur, Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur.
July 23
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Bargarh, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Deogarh.
July 24
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Balasore, Koraput and Malkangiri.
