Heavy Rain To Lash Cuttack & 3 Other Dists Tomorrow, Alert Issued For Thunderstorm, Gusty Wind@50Kmph

Bhubaneswar: While the cyclonic circulation over coastal Odisha and neighbourhood has become less marked, some places in four districts of the state are likely to experience heavy rain on Tuesday, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre informed on Monday.

Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in Keonjhar, Jajpur, Cuttack, and Dhenkanal districts between 8.30 am on Tuesday and 8.30 am on Wednesday, the MeT office said in its mid-day bulletin.

Yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph has also been issued for one or two places in North coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, and Dhenkanal while thunderstorm with lightning is likely one or two places over the rest districts of North Odisha, South coastal Odisha and Kandhamal.

Several places in North Odisha and South coastal Odisha and a few places in South Interior Odisha are also likely to experience light to moderate rain during this period.

Yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning continues for the subsequent 24 hours for Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Koraput.

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is also likely to occur at a few places in coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Koraput and at one or two places in the remaining parts of the state from 8.30 am on Wednesday to 8.30 am on Thursday.

Rainfall activity will continue till 8.30 am on Saturday, the IMD said.

During the next 24 hours, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely at one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada and Cuttack. Light to moderate rain may also occur at a few places in North Odisha and at one or two places in South Odisha.

Odisha is likely to witness a slight rise in temperature after three days, it added.
