Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to experience heavy rain for four days, starting Tuesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed.
According to the midday bulletin, heavy rain may lash one or two places in Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj till 8.30 am on Wednesday. Yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning has also been issued for one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri and Cuttack districts. There is also a forecast for light to moderate rain or thundershower at many places in Interior Odisha and at a few places in the coastal districts of the state.

In its extended rage forecast, the IMD had earlier predicted fairly widespread to widespread rain/thundershower with isolated heavy falls in some districts between August 25 and 31. Overall rainfall activity likely to be slightly above normal, it added.
Odisha has recorded 743.8 mm rainfall against the normal of 822.9 mm till August 22 this monsoon season. While one district – Boudh- has received excess rain, 11 are deficient and the remaining 18 in normal category.
