Bhubaneswar: Odisha can expect some relief from the hot and humid conditions with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting heavy rainfall in several districts from August 5.
The MeT office on Tuesday forecast heavy rainfall at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Puri, Jagatsinghpur and Kandhamal districts on August 5. The following day, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in Puri, Ganjam, Khurda, Kandhamal and Kalahandi and heavy rainfall at a few places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Balangir, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada and Gajapati.
The state is likely to experience light to moderate rainfall between August 2 and August 4. Yellow alert for thunderstorm /lightning has also been sounded for several districts till August 3.

An advisory has been issued to the collectors of all the districts for which the yellow warning has been issued to keep administrative machinery ready to face any untoward incident.
The IMD further said that the day temperature is very likely to remain above normal by 2-3°C during the next 3 days and decrease thereafter.
