Heavy Rain To Lash Odisha From June 26 Amid Thunderstorm & Gusty Wind; Yellow Warning By IMD

Bhubaneswar: Most parts of Odisha are likely to be lashed by rain and thunderstorm in the next few days and the intensity of downpour may increase substantially from June 26, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Monday.

Director of Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre Manorama Mohanty said that heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur several parts of the state from June 26 to 28.

Similarly, rainfall of varied intensity will take place in most parts of the state in the next five days, she said.

A cyclonic circulation is likely to form in the region around June 26 and the intensity of rain may increase under its impact.

Light to moderate rain/thundershower may occur at a few places over the districts in the next 24 hours.

The weather agency issued yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph in some places of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, and Sonepur in next 24 hours.

Yellow Warning: 1) Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar.

2) Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Kalahandi, and Koraput.

Yellow Warning: Heavy to very heavy rain likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput and heavy rainfall may occur at some places over the districts of Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Balangir, Nuapada, and Bargarh.

June 28

Yellow Warning: Heavy to very heavy rain may occur at some places of Rayagada, Koraput and heavy rainfall likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, and Malkangiri.
