Bhubaneswar: Heavy rain may lash some parts of Odisha from Wednesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Tuesday.
There is also a warning of heavy to very heavy rain for two districts on June 28. “Incessant rain will continue in the state for the next 5 days under the influence of a cyclonic circulation, which has formed over Eastcentral Bay of Bengal,” said Manorama Mohanty.
According to the weather agency, thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph is likely one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Balangir, Rayagada, Sonepur, Kandhamal, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Bargarh till 8.30 am on Wednesday (June 26).
Bhubaneswar may experience partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers.
There is a yellow warning of heavy rain for Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh during the subsequent 24 hours. Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph may also occur at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati,Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh and Bargarh districts.
On June 27, heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Balangir, Nuapada, and Bargarh. Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph may also occur at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balangir, Sonepur and Nuapada.
The IMD has warned of heavy to very heavy rain at one or two places in Sambalpur and Bargarh while heavy rainfall may occur in Angul, Khurda, Nayagarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar districts on June 28. Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface windspeed reaching 30-40 kmph is also likely at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati,Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Angul and Dhenkanal during this period.
On June 29, heavy rainfall may continue at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Sundargarh districts.
Though there is no further weather warning, light to moderate rain will continue at many places in the state during the subsequent two days, it added.
