Bhubaneswar: While the depression over the Bay of Bengal has weakened into a well-marked low pressure, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here has issued a nowcast warning for several districts of Odisha till 1.15 pm on Wednesday.
Light to moderate rain/thundershowers with one or two intense/heavy spells of rain is likely in some parts of Bhadrak, Balasore, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Cuttack (including Cuttack city ), Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Nayagarh during the next three hours.
Thundershower is also likely in some parts Angul, Boud, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sonepur, Rayagada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Malkangiri and Gajapati during this period.
The MeT office has warned about waterlogging in low-lying areas, occasionally poor visibility and traffic disruption in urban areas. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
