Bhubaneswar: Heavy rainfall is very likely to pound most parts of Odisha over the next five days. While 14 districts are likely to face heavy rain during next 24 hours, India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday issued yellow warning for many districts for the next five days.
The Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar said in a bulletin that a cyclonic circulation lies over west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal and extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level. Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Odisha.
A fresh low pressure area is likely to form over Northwest and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal off south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh around July 24.
In view of the prevailing meteorological features, wet spell of monsoon rainfall activity over Odisha is likely to continue and it will help ongoing sowing activity of paddy crops. However, temporarily water logging in low lying areas and traffic congestion in urban areas, landslides in vulnerable hilly areas likely due to heavy rain in some areas, itsaid.
