Bhubaneswar: Rain lashed several parts of Odisha for the second day on Friday under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal and a monsoon trough line from Rajasthan to Kolkata, extending up to southeast Bay of Bengal.
Similar weather conditions would prevail over the weekend with the regional centre of India Meteorological Centre (IMD) predicting heavy rainfall till July 30.
July 26: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places in Koraput, Kalahandi, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Deoghar, Sambalpur, Jajpur, Bhadrak districts and heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Ganjam, Sundergarh, Angul, Malkangiri, Kandhamal and Cuttack districts.
July 27: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places in Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Nuapada, Bargarh, Sonepur and heavy rainfall likely to occur at one or two places Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundergarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Koraput and Boudh.
July 28: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places in Koraput, Malkangiri, Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Deogarh and Sonepur.
July 29: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places in Odisha.
July 30: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places in Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundergarh, Sambalpur, Koraput and Nabarangpur.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into sea along and off Odisha coast till July 28.
A fresh low pressure area is likely to form over northwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood around July 31, it added.
The state had recorded about 32 per cent deficit rainfall between June 1 and July 24. Following enhanced rainfall in the last two days, the deficit has now come down to 29 per cent, official sources said.
Farmers will immensely benefit if rainfall continues for the next few days, the sources added.
