Bhubaneswar: Heavy rain is likely to lash Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur till 8.30 am on Monday under the influence of a low-pressure area over north Telangana and neighbourhood, the India Meteorological Department said on Sunday.
The twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar are also likely to experience rainfall activity during this period.
Heavy rain will pound some parts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore during the following 24 hours (from 8.30 am on Monday to 8.30 am on Tuesday).
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is also likely to occur at many places in North Odisha, South coastal Odisha, and at a few places in South Interior Odisha during this period.
Amid the heavy rain forecast, the Special Relief Commission (SRC) has directed all the collectors of these districts to keep a close watch and monitor the situation.
The Met office has also issued thunderstorm (yellow) warning for one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi on Wednesday.
The state will continue to experience light to moderate rain till 8.30 am on Friday, it added.
