Heavy Rain To Resume In Odisha From Sept 9 After Week-Long Break


Bhubaneswar: After being battered by heavy to extremely heavy rain over the last several days, Odisha is likely to witness sharp reduction in the intensity of showers for a week, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Thursday.

Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is likely to occur in all the districts of the state over the next one week. There is no warning of severe weather conditions from the IMD during the period. Heavy rain is expected to resume in the state on September 9.

Meanwhile, the well-marked low-pressure area over northeast Madhya Pradesh & neighbourhood persisted over the same region. It is likely to move west-north-westwards across south Uttar Pradesh and adjoining north Madhya Pradesh during next 24 hours.

The weather agency has issued a yellow warning for Sundaragada, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj districts on September 9-10. Heavy rain is likely to lash some places in these districts during the period.
