Rayagada: Road communication in six panchayats of Kalyansinghpur block in Odisha’s Rayagada was cut off after a temporary bridge over Kalyani river was washed away on Wednesday due to heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours.
Over 2000 people of Kalyansinghpur, Pujaripada, Sunakhandi, Parasali, Palama and Kandhakatipadu panchayats take this bridge every day.
Notably, a permanent bridge over the river was washed away due to extremely heavy rainfall on July 16, 2017. Later, the district administration had constructed a temporary bridge. Though the construction of a new bridge has started, people in this area are facing trouble because of the slow pace of the work.
