Heavy Rainfall Forecast In Odisha: Collectors Asked To Stay Alert

Bhubaneswar: The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), Odisha, on Tuesday directed all district Collectors to remain alert after the India Meteorological Department (IMD)’s regional centre in Bhubaneswar forecast heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning over four days, from June 29 to July 2.

The SRC asked the Collectors to keep the administrative machinery ready for any eventuality. They have also been asked to immediately report on any damage caused.

Forecast for next five days:

June 29 (Till 8.30 am)

Yellow warning: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of South Interior Odisha, Gajapati, Ganjam and at a few places over the rest districts of Odisha.

June 29 (8.30 am) to June 30 (8.30 am)

Yellow warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Koraput, Malkangiri, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj. Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Interior Odisha and at a few places over the rest districts of Odisha.

June 30 (8.30 am) to July 1 (8.30 am)

Yellow warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Boudh and Deogarh.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over rest districts of Odisha.

July 1 (8.30 am) to July 2 (8.30 am)

Yellow warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Cuttack, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Angul.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over rest districts of Odisha.

July 2 (8.30 am) to July 3 (8.30 am)

Yellow warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri, Koraput and Rayagada.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the rest districts of Odisha.

Forecast for Bhubaneswar and neighbourhood for the next 24 hours: Generally cloudy sky with light rain. Maximum and Minimum temperature very likely to be around 35°C and 26°C respectively.
