Bhubaneswar: The meteorological centre, Bhubaneswar, on Wednesday predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in South interior Odisha in the next 24 hours.
Talking to the media, duty officer Ajay Kumar Nayak said that a north-south trough runs from the centre of above low-pressure area to north Tamil Nadu across Odisha and north coastal Andhra Pradesh while the low-pressure area over Bihar and adjoining areas of north Jharkhand and east Uttar Pradesh now lies over south-east Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Jharkhand and Bihar with the associated cyclonic circulation.
Under its influence, heavy to very heavy rainfall will lash the South interior districts of Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi and Nuapada in the next 24 hours.
Besides, there will be moderate rainfall and thundershower in the nine districts of Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Cuttack, Khurda and Jajpur during this period, Nayak added.
