Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall with thunderstorm and lightning in several districts of Odisha in next 24 hours.
In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD issued yellow warning for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Kandhamal, Boudh, Kalahandi and Ganjam districts where heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places.
Similarly, the Met office issued yellow warning forecasting thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack,
Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar,
Mayurbhanj, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda and Nabarangpur districts.
Considering the forecast, the Special Relief Commissioner has directed the district collectors to take steps to alert the people. The collectors have also been advised to closely monitor the situation and take necessary steps.
The IMD has also forecast generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershower in Bhubaneswar.
