New Delhi: Actor Shekhar Suman joined the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP). However, it remains unclear whether the ‘Heeramandi’ actor will contest elections in the future or not.
In a video shared on social media by the news agency ANI, Shekhar Suman was seen being welcomed into the political party by Vinod Tawde, General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Watch it here:
Shekhar Suman is currently basking in the success of his recently released web series, ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s show premiered on Netflix earlier this month and also stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal Mehta, Farida Jalal, Fardeen Khan and Adhyayan Suman in key roles. It explores the various aspects of a woman’s trials and tribulations.
Shekhar Suman’s oral sex scene in the show has also become the talk of the town. Recently, the 61-year-old actor also opened up about it and told Zoom Entertainment that it was never a part of the script originally. He mentioned that when Bhansali talked about it on sets for the first time, everyone was left shocked.
“I went with all my preparation, having learned my lines. Just before the scene was supposed to begin, he called me over and said, ‘I have thought of a bizarre interpretation of this, are you open to it?’ And he completely turned it around. It was something that nobody had thought of, the ADs were like this (Shekhar mimicked a stunned expression),” Shekhar Suman was quoted as saying by Zoom.
