Cuttack: A disturbing video of a youth being forced to run for around 2 km while tied to a two-wheeler has gone viral, raising serious questions about the law and order situation in Odisha’s Cuttack city.
According to sources, the youth was seen being dragged on Shailabala Women’s College-Buxi Bazar road here by two people riding a scooterate with his hands being to the two-wheelers with a rope on Sunday evening.
The accused reportedly threatened locals with sharp weapons and warned them against interfering in the matter when they were intercepted at Sutahat here. They claimed that they were punishing the youth over the alleged non-repayment of Rs 1,500 he had taken from them two months ago for purchasing ganja.
Though no complaint has been filed in this regard, Lal Bagh police identified the accused from the viral video and have detained two suo moto for questioning, the sources said, adding that the vehicle has also been seized.
