Chennai: In a shocking crime, two sisters allegedly let a shopkeeper rape their minor daughters and record videos of the heinous assault as payment for the goods they purchased from his shop.
The Chennai shopkeeper also raped and filmed three friends of the sister duo’s daughters.
The store of the shopkeeper, 48-year-old Perumal, was raided following a tip-off that he had stored banned tobacco products. Perumal’s mobile phone and a bag of tobacco items were seized by the police.
While checking the phone for details of tobacco dealers, the cops were stunned to find about 50 videos of children being sexually assaulted by a man, according to a report in The Times of India.
After realizing that the man seen in the clips was Perumal, police picked him up for questioning. He told the cops that he had been sexually assaulting the five minors for about six months.
The two sisters, aged 30 and 28 years, have also been arrested. It emerged that one of them had an affair with the shopkeeper, and allowed him to sexually assault their minor daughters and record videos in exchange for articles they bought from the shop.
The other three children, who used to come to their house to play, were too young to tell their parents what was happening. “It is a shocking case. If the inspector had not checked his mobile phone, the case wouldn’t have come to light and the man would have abused more children,” the deputy commissioner Karthikeyan was quoted as saying.
