Jagatsinghpur: Helper of a liquor-laden truck was killed as the vehicle overturned after being hit by another truck on Cuttack-Paradip state highway in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district.
As per sources, the mishap took place on the state highway under the jurisdiction of Kujang police station late on Monday night. The truck was bound for Paradip with liquor.
The deceased was identified as Subhas from Tangi area. He was in the truck for loading and unloading purpose. He was trapped beneath the vehicle when it overturned. By the time he was pulled out, he had already succumbed to injuries.
The vehicle had reportedly developed a mechanical issue near Kujang, following which the helper was trying to fix the problem. Meanwhile, a speeding truck rammed into the vehicle, causing it to overturn into a roadside canal.
A police team from Kujang rushed to the site and started an investigation into the incident.
