Bhubaneswar: Hema Gamang, wife of former Odisha chief minister Girdhar Gamang, resigned from Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Friday.
She has sent her resignation to BJD president and chief minister Naveen Patnaik, citing gross neglect by the party leaders behind her decision to quit the regional party.
When asked on whether she plans to join any other party, Hema said she will let her decision known to the media very soon.
Since her meeting with BJP leader and Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan on April 15, speculation is rife about her joining the saffron party.
It may be recalled that Hema had resigned from the Congress and joined the BJD. Later she contested as a party candidate from Laximpur constituency in the 2014 Assembly elections. She, however, lost the election to Congress candidate Anantaram Majhi.
