Hemant Soren Set To Return As Jharkhand’s 13th CM, Swearing In Today

Ranchi: Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan has invited JMM Chief Hemant Soren to form government in the state and he is likely to take oath at 5 pm on Thursday, according to reports.

Hemant Soren resigned as the CM shortly before his arrest on January 31 by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case linked to an alleged land scam. He walked out of jail on June 28 after being granted bail by the high court.

The JMM chief along with state Congress president Rajesh Thakur and RJD leader Satyanand Bhokta visited Raj Bhawan and staked a claim to form the government after Champai Soren tendered his resignation to the Governor on Wednesday.

Kalpana Soren, the Gandey MLA and wife of Hemant Soren, was also part of the delegation.

With the swearing in, he will become the 13th chief minister of Jharkhand, which was carved out of Bihar on November 15, 2000.
