Since the country went into lockdown in March, restaurants were closed for the public, but takeaways were allowed, directly or through various mobile applications like Swiggy and Zomato. Even if restaurants have opened now, due to safety concerns, denizens are preferring takeaways that have taken over restaurant culture.
We curated a list of the top eight pocket-friendly restaurants/food stalls that allow takeaways along with their best food items in Cuttack.
Indian Chicken Express (Big Bazar, Tinkonia Bagiccha and College Square)
With two outlets in Cuttack, Indian Chicken Express also popularly known as ICE, is a popular snack destination for the youth of Cuttack. Now they’re serving through Zomato, hot and spicy. They follow the WHO sanitisation protocol and regularly check the temperatures of their staff. It’s economical and delicious. The best items on their menu are chicken hot wings and chicken popcorn. They also have a variety of burgers.
Drool (Mahatab Road, Dolomundai)
This is a multi-cuisine restaurant that allows takeaways. It’s super pocket friendly and the dishes range from Chinese to Indian to Continental. The restaurant has mandatory temperature checks for all staff members, safe packaging and sanitisation every four hours. This is the best place if you’re thinking of ordering dinner since it opens after 7 pm. You can try their Garlic Chicken and Chicken Malai tikka.
Nanking (Mahatab Road, near Grand Cinema Hall)
One of the veteran restaurants of Cuttack, your takeaway from here can fulfil your stomachs without tearing through your pocket. The average amount for food for two people would cost around 300 and they accept all forms of digital payments. They follow the safety protocols and sanitisation processes. Their best takeaways would be Poda Chicken and Paneer Garlic or Paneer Manchurian.
Dada Biryani/Deep Food Corner (Buxi Bazar)
This particular restaurant is famous among the denizens for its very special mutton dum biryani and chicken dum Biryani. You can order from DFC through Swiggy or Zomato, or directly give your order through their phone number and collect it later. It’s also well known for its Keema. DFC is hygienic and maintains its safety standards with regular temperature checking for all its staff members.
Akbari Continental (Haripur Road)
This is one of the oldest and known restaurants of the Millennium city. It’s well known for its continental dishes. Slightly expensive but your taste buds won’t regret it. The best looked out item in here is the chicken steak sizzler. One of the few places that serve alcohol in the restaurant. One can order a lavish dinner from here and thank the heavens later!
Filmy Food (Sector 9, CDA)
It’s a multi-cuisine restaurant with a thematic ambience. However, since the lockdown, they’ve tied up with Swiggy and Zomato and are providing their delicious dishes to the denizens through home delivery. One must try their Chinese dishes. Filmy food is extremely inexpensive and fulfilling.
Dexter’s ( Sector 10, CDA)
Without thinking twice, one should try their Pan-fried Momos, Bali Prawns and Triple Schezwan Fried Rice. They maintain all their safety standards, with regular temperature checks of their staff, sanitisation and masks. It is expensive compared to other places mentioned in the list, but the food, taste and quantity are completely worth the price.
Mirchi (Buxi Bazar Road and Link Road)
With two outlets in town, Mirchi serves one of the finest Chicken Biryanis in the city. People far and wide know of Mirchi because of its mouth-watering Biryani. In these times, you can order through Zomato and the minimum price for food for two people would be around 350-400 bucks. Mirchi is not only good with Biryani, but one should also try their egg chicken tandoor roll.
Barbati Restaurant (In front of Big Bazar, Jail Road)
This Restaurant is one of the oldest restaurants in Cuttack. Situated just opposite to Big Bazar, it’s almost in the heart of the city. Barbati usually serves all kind of cuisines but the denizens prefer the Indian dishes more. Biriyani and Keema will be the all-time special dishes. The food is not very expensive but the taste will amaze you.
Pramod Convention and Club Resort
Located almost on the riverbed, this is one of the best restaurants in and around Cuttack. With its amazing ambience and carefully curated courtyard, it gives one of the best experiences of dining in. But for the time being, takeaways are also available. Pramod is best known for its lovely bakery items including pastries and cakes. The Chinese dishes and the Pizzas will also be one of the best takeaways. It will slightly expensive in comparison to the other restaurants, but the taste will be worth it.
