Google has started rolling out the latest version of Android-10 (Go edition). The company says the new OS will be faster and more secure, with 10 per cent quicker app launch times compared to Android Pie (Go edition).
The Go edition is a light weight version that Google claims will run on smartphones having 1.5 GB RAM.
For security, Google has adopted a new encryption method called Adiantum, which allows devices with lower resources to encrypt data without impacting performance.
“Adiantum is built to run efficiently without specialized hardware, meaning all Go edition users will have the same level of data security as any Android device, without compromising on performance,” Google stated in a blog. “This will make the next generation of devices more secure than their predecessors, and allow the next billion people coming online for the first time to do so safely.”
Android Go edition makes up for 80 per cent of entry-level Android devices, Google noted.
