Bengaluru: E-Commerce major Flipkart on Wednesday released a report on how shopping behavior has changed during and after lockdown.
The main behavior change during the initial days of unlock 1.0 saw increase in purchase of smartphones meant for gaming and content consumption, and in the mid-premium segment. Phones with Snapdragon 700 series or MeditaTek G-powered SoC were in demand, along with 64-MP or 48-MP primary camera and fast charging.
Similarly, there was an increased demand 2.3x for laptops, particularly high-performance laptops indicating the increased work from home and study from home needs.
Smart TV products and Smart TVs saw a 3.5x demand, likely to have been caused by Over The Top (OTT) content consumption. Soundbars, speakers and home theatres etc increased in demand as multiplexes were closed.
The demand for printers witnessed a drastic increase of 75 per cent. This was followed by work and laptop furniture. Flipkart saw a 3x increase in the demand for study tables, chairs, and laptop tables in metro areas. Non-metros too saw a 2x increase. Gaming chairs witnessed a 2.6x increase.
Coming to kitchenware, there was an increased demand for products related to baking including microwaves, hand-blenders, particularly in South India.
