Here’s Why Students In Jharkhand Are Protesting & Some Are On Hunger Strike

Ranchi: Students and job aspirants in Jharkhand have been on a sit-in protest since July. According to reports, some students are also sitting on a hunger strike. The protesters have alleged exam irregularities. Their protest had begun days after the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led student protest in Delhi was called off. The Jharkhand students are staging protest at Ranchi’s Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium since July 29.

They have claimed that there had been irregularities in the 14th JPSC Civil Services Examination. The ongoing stir intensified on Tuesday after five more joined the indefinite fast.

The CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke has lent his support to the Ranchi students.

Protesters are seeking a probe by central agencies into the alleged irregularities in the recruitment examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC).

They are also demanding the cancellation of all examinations conducted by the private agency TDPL. The agency is under the scanner for the alleged irregularities.

Devendranath Mahto, a Jharkhand Krantikari Loktantrik Morcha (JKLM) leader, had first begun his hunger strike at the Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi.
