Heroic Efforts: United Nations Felicitates Odisha Techie For His Contribution To Environmental Protection

Kendrapada: Anything that helps in the cause of protecting the environment is dear to this young man’s heart. He manages to do his bit for environmental protection both directly and indirectly.

Sagar Pradhan, 30, a native of Adhanga village under Derabish block here found an ingenious way to promote the cause close to his heart. For the past six years, this young Odisha-based author has been donating the royalty of his books to the United Nations (UN) acknowledged his efforts by giving him the ‘Hero’ award for 2020 on the occasion of World Environment Day.

A product of Salepur College, he went on to do BTech and joined Infosys as a software engineer in 2013. He now lives in Bengaluru where he works for Colt Technologies.

Sagar has written books like, E-Commerce and Enterprise Resource Planning, Internet Of Things-Key Application and Protocol, Internet Of Things (Vol 1 and 2), Basic Java Programming, and many more.

Besides, he has always been involved in social work. According to the villagers, Sagar was always at the forefront during the planting of trees in his school days.

“I have struggled a lot in my childhood. I used to take tuitions to purchase textbooks. Engineering books used to be very costly. My aim is to provide books to students in the range of Rs 50 and Rs 100. I am interested in encouraging students to do space research,” said Sagar.

Governor Ganeshi Lal recently felicitated Sagar for his endeavour.

He is currently writing a book on research on Chandrayan in Odia language.

Odisha MP Pratap Sarangi also praised Sagar’s efforts.
