Bhubaneswar: Excise officials seized heroin worth over Rs 10 lakh and arrested a youth for allegedly peddling it from a slum in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.
Following information about the drug peddler in Khandagiri area, the officials of Khurdha District Mobile Unit of the Excise department conducted a patrolling to trace him. During patrolling in Subas Nagar slum under Khandagiri police limits, they found a youth moving suspiciously.
The officials intercepted him and during search, found 110 gm of heroin in his possession. The youth was identified as Kanha Mohapatra.
The Excise team arrested Kanha and seized the contraband and his motorcycle. The seized heroin was estimated to cost more than Rs 10 lakh, the sources said.
The Excise officials have filed a case and started investigation to ascertain whether others were involved in drug racket in the capital city.
