Cuttack: The Orissa High Court Bar Association has decided to hold a meeting this afternoon to prepare further strategy on its ongoing strike over police excesses.
The general council meeting of the association will be convened at 2 pm today. The members of the association will share their views regarding the protest following which further course of action will be taken accordingly.
“Out of the five persons involved in attack on the lawyer, two have so far been arrested. We demand arrest of all those involved in the incident. It is quite unfortunate that the government has failed to hold any discussion with the agitating lawyers to resolve their issues despite the last one and half months strike,” a member of the association alleged.
The Supreme Court had on September 27 directed the agitating lawyers to withdraw their ongoing cease-work agitation and join duty.
However, the lawyers did not accept the order of the apex court to end the strike citing that the court should have given them a chance to keep their stand before it.
Earlier, the agitators had locked up the main gate of the Orissa High Court seeking immediate fulfillment of their demand. They had also burnt the effigies of Chief Justices of Supreme Court and the High Court.
