New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal, who has skipped multiple summons from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the money-laundering probe in the Delhi liquor policy case, didn’t get any legal reprieve on Thursday.

The Delhi High Court dismissed Kejriwal’s petition seeking to restrain ED from taking coercive action against him in the liquor policy case.

Kejriwal had moved the court after the ninth summons issued by ED, asking him to appear before it on Thursday. The Delhi chief minister has refused to appear before the agency, calling the summonses illegal.

However, a bench of Justices Suresh Kumar Kait and Manoj Jain said the court is not inclined to grant relief to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Kejriwal at this stage.

“The petition is not maintainable, that was our main ground. According to us, it’s not maintainable, it’s a desperate attempt for him to file the petition. Delhi HC stated that it was not inclined to grant an interim relief,” said Additional Solicitor General (ASG) SV Raju, who appeared for ED.

ED has alleged that there was corruption and money-laundering in formulating and executing the Delhi government’s excise policy for 2021-22, which was later scrapped.

Senior AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh are currently in judicial custody in the case.
