Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala High Court has served notices to cricket superstar and Team India captain Virat Kohli, along with actors Tamannaah Bhatia and Aju Varghese. The court was hearing a petition which demanded a ban on online rummy games.

All three have featured in commercials/advertisements which promote platforms where online rummy games are played.

Observing that online betting was a grave social evil, the court asked the state government to clarify its stand on the matter, reported The Indian Express.

Kochi-based Pauly Vadakkan filed the petition which stated that online rummy games are against the law and difficult to control. The petition pointed out that some platforms running such games are using celebrities to endorse them in a bid to “attract the youth and trap them financially”.

Kohli is the brand ambassador of Mobile Premier League, while Tamannaah has featured in their advertisement. On the other hand, Malayalam actor Aju Varghese has endorsed rummycircle.

Along with the trio, the court has sent notices to Mobile Premier League and Play Games 24*7.
