Balangir: High drama was witnessed at Titlagarh Municipality office in Odisha’s Balangir district on Wednesday. Munitipality Chairperson Mamata Devi Jain created a flutter by staging a dharna at the office building.
She was reportedly staging the sit-in with certain allegation against the Municipality Executive Officer. She sought an explanation from the officer.
Sources said Jain had spoken to Executive Officer Bipin Bihari Deep regarding the maintenance of Swarg Dham on Tuesday. However, she reportedly claimed that the Executive Officer did not pay any heed. He was also reported to have told the Cheirperson that he was the head of the Municipality.
Annoyed over this, Jain staged dharna at the office building to protest alleged misbehavior of Deep.
Stating that the Municipality should not function as per the officer’s wish, Jain said the civic body is for the common people and it should not be affected by politics.
The Executive Officer managed to pacify Jain and apologised to her. Subsequently, she withdrew the dharna and returned to her chamber.
Deep said there was some misunderstanding which has been sorted out.
