High-End Phones, Cash Looted From Mobile Shop In Puri


Puri: Miscreants looted costly phones, accessories and cash from a mobile phone shop in Astaranga market of Odisha’s Puri district.

According to preliminary information, the incident took place late at the shop, owned by Debendra Mohanty of nearby Sahana village, on Monday night and the burglary came to light on Tuesday morning.

A complaint was lodged with the police regarding the burglary. The shop owner had closed his shop and returned home on Monday night. He was informed in the morning that the shop’s shutter had been broken open.

Debendra rushed to the shop and found that almost all the valuables had been looted.
The stolen items allegedly include high-end phones, and a large quantity of mobile accessories.

The miscreants also reportedly took Rs 1.5 lakh kept inside the cash box. The exact loss suffered by the owner was yet to be ascertained.

In an apparent attempt to destroy evidence, the burglars allegedly damaged the shop’s CCTV cameras before fleeing the spot. However, the burglary scene was captured by CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity which showed masked miscreants committing the loot.

Based on the complaint, Astaranga police have launched a detailed investigation into the alleged theft. Police are examining available evidence and are expected to investigate the sequence of events and identify those involved.
