Ludhiana: A high-intensity explosion shook a district court complex, near the police Commissionerate office, here on Thursday afternoon. According to preliminary reports, at least one person was killed and several injured.
According to Times Now, the explosion took place in the washroom on the second floor of the building, which houses eight courtrooms.
Several cars parked around the court complex were damaged, with windscreens of many of those smashed.
Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi said he was rushing to Ludhiana.
Linking the massive blast to upcoming Punjab assembly elections, the CM said anti-nationals are looking to disrupt peace and harmony in the state.
The court premises was vacated and the area cordoned off by police.
Casualties could have been far more had lawyers not been on a strike.
