Bhubaneswar: A school headmaster was apprehended by Odisha Vigilance officials in Bargarh district in Monday for allegedly accepting Rs 14,000 bribe from a self-help group (SHG) functionary to release payment for cleaning work performed.
The accused was identified as Balamukunda Padhan, headmaster of Kushanpuri High School in Bargarh.
He was apprehended by Vigilance sleuths while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 14,000/- from a functionary of a local SHG to process file for release of payment in their favour towards cleaning and night watch duty of the school, an official release said.
The entire bribe money has been recovered from the possession of accused and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Pradhan from DA angle.
A case under section 7 of the PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and further investigation is in progress.
