Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Saturday apprehended Kendrapada Government High School headmaster Niranjan Ati while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5000.
According to a Vigilance release, he had demanded the illegal gratification from a staff of the school for facilitating release of his second-phase house building loan. The entire bribe money was recovered from Ati and seized.
Simultaneous searches are on at 4 locations linked to the headmaster to ascertain whether he had accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
A case has been registered under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 and further investigation is underway, the release added.
