Bhubaneswar: The Centre has sanctioned 87 Ekalavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) for Odisha, which is highest for any state in the country.
This was revealed by Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs and Jal Shakti Bishweswar Tudu at a coordination meeting of EMRS in New Delhi on Wednesday. Of the schools for Odisha, 19 have been sanctioned for Mayurbhanj, which is the highest for any district.
During the review of the status of the construction of these schools, the minister was told that the ‘bhoomi puja’ of 45 out of the 87 schools has been completed so far.
He reviewed the issues faced for construction of some schools including land acquisition, forest clearance and cost escalation due to hilly terrain. He directed the officials to solve all problems and expedite the construction work.
