Guwahati: Trust Himanta Biswa Sarma to keep his word and push for impactful decisions.
The Assam chief minister said on Sunday that his government will enact a law against ‘love jihad’ with the provision of life imprisonment as punishment to those violating it.
“We spoke about ‘love jihad’ during the elections. Soon, we will bring a law which will award life imprisonment in such cases,” Biswa Sarma said at a BJP meeting.
Biswa Sarma further said that a new domicile policy will be introduced soon, under which only those born in Assam will be eligible for government jobs in the northeastern state.
Biswa Sarma said his government has given priority to the indigenous people in the 1 lakh government jobs provided, as per his pre-poll promise.
The Assam CM said the government has taken a decision about land deals between Hindus and Muslims. Though the government can’t prevent such transactions, it will be mandatory to secure the CM’s consent for such deals.
