Puri: Well-known TV actress Mahika Sharma was allegedly harassed and roughed up by some youths during Rath Yatra in Puri on July 14.
The actress, narrating her ordeal on Instagram, said she was on the way to the Jagannath Temple for darshan of the Lords at around 6 am when some youths passed lewd comments and even tried to slap her.
Following the incident, she returned to the hotel without visiting the Lords.
In her post, Sharma said she did not lodge any complaint with the police. “Lord Jagannath will give me the justice,” she noted.
Asked about the incident, Puri SP Sarthak Sarangi said the police has sent a message on the Instagram to the TV actress to give details on when and where the incident had taken place and what led to it.
“We have also asked for the actress’ telephone number so that the police would record her statement. We will examine the CCTV footage. Police has taken the matter seriously and stern action will be taken against the anti-socials if the allegations are found to be true,” the SP added.
