Just days after ‘Food has no religion’ controversy, online food delivery company Zomato has been hit by another religious storm. This time the company’s delivery boys have decided to go on a strike from Monday in Kolkata, protesting against the food they deliver.
While Hindu delivery boys have refused to carry beef, Muslims have expressed similar reluctance with regards to pork.
The boys are demanding that they be allowed to delivery food in accordance with their religious guidelines.
Zomato doesn’t let delivery boys cancel the order without explanation.
TMC MLA from Howrah Rajib Banerjee has supported the issue. In a report published in India Today, he said that the company should take care not to hurt their religious sentiments.
