Hit & Run Case: Speeding Car Injures Seven In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In a hit and run case, seven persons including a woman were critically injured when a speeding car crashed into three two-wheelers on the outskirts of the Odisha capital on Monday.

According to reports, the incident occurred near Jagannath temple at Kesura, when a speeding Maruti Suzuki Dzire hit two bikers, who were standing beside the road in the opposite direction. The car then hit another two-wheeler rider coming from the front, throwing him into the air. The injured two-wheeler rider fell on a Scooty, which was following him.

According to eyewitnesses, a boy and a girl going on the Scooty fell down in the middle of the road after being hit by the car. One of the injured was seen rushing towards the car, but it fled in seconds from the spot. The car driver appeared to be under influence of alcohol, the eyewitnesses said.

All the seven injured with serious injuries were rushed to hospital. They are all local residents.

Though the car driver managed to flee, the entire incident was captured in a CCTV camera installed at a nearby shop. The police have initiated a probe into the matter and were verifying the CCTV footage. Besides, different cases were filed by the injured persons at Badagada police station.
