Bhubaneswar: SAI International on Tuesday, welcomed the living legends of Indian hockey, Dilip Tirkey (Padma Shri), the former captain of the Indian Hockey team, to celebrate and cheer Odisha Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2021.
Odisha is hosting the Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2021 from November 24 till December 5.
All the matches will be played at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar with the finals on December 5. Sixteen teams from across the globe will fight for the trophy at the prestigious hockey tournament. Reigning champions India have been placed in Pool B alongside Canada, France and Poland. The 18-member team-India includes three players from Odisha – Abhishek Lakra, Sudeep Chirmako and Sunil Jojo.
Expressing his delight at the welcoming response of the students, Dilip Tirkey also appreciated the sporting infrastructure of the School.
Chairperson Dr Silpi Sahoo announced that Dillip Tirkey would be a sports mentor of the students of SAI International.
The school band played JAI Ho! to cheer all the participating teams.
