Hockey Training Centre To Come Up In Odisha’s Deogarh District

Bhubaneswar: In order to promote young and talented players, the Odisha government will set up a hockey training centre in Deogarh district.

During his visit to the district on second day on Monday, secretary (5T) to chief minister VK Pandian interacted with young hockey players while hearing grievances of people at Kansar.

On learning that the area had produced some international players like Roshan Minz who was also present during the interaction, Pandian apprised chief minister of the potential for hockey in the district. As he requested for opening a hockey training centre with astro turf in the area, the chief minister immediately directed the Sports department to sanction funds for the purpose.

Pandian also reviewed the progress of the ongoing mega pipe water supply projects in Barkote, Reamal and Tileibani blocks costing Rs 609 crore, covering the entire district. The Barkote and Reamal projects will be commissioned by June, 2024. The Tileibani project, which will also supply water to Deogarh town, will be commissioned by June, 2025.

He also visited the Jhadeswar Temple and interacted with servitors, members of the trustee and devotees for its holistic development with better facility for the devotees. He took their suggestion on various aspects of transformation of the temple. He directed the district officials to prepare a master plan for development of the temple.

Later, he visited Mission Shakti Cafe at Tileibani and interacted with Mission Shakti members on the functioning of the cafe and other livelihood activities. Then, he went to Kansar Ashram School, which has been transformed under 5T initiative of the government and interacted with the students and teachers.

Pandian attended public grievance meetings at Parposi in Tileibani block and Chhatabar in Reamal block. From there he proceeded to Ballam under Barkote block for interaction with members of Mission Shakti, MBKs, Bank Mitras, CRPs and local public and heard their grievances.

Special Secretary to CM, R Vineel Krishna, DIG Brijesh Rai, Collector Somesh Kumar Upadhyay, SP Pramod Rath and other district officials accompanied him during the visit.
