Cuttack: In view of the opening ceremony of FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup, the district administration has imposed a ban on entry of heavy vehicles into Odisha’s Cuttack city from January 1 midnight till January 12 midnight.
Tractors, tippers and trucks carrying minor minerals will not be allowed to ply between the twin cities. “The plying of vehicles carrying sand, chips, stones and bricks will be prohibited in view of the movement of VIPs and VVIPs due to the Hockey World Cup,” Collector Bhabani Shankar Chayani said.
Emergency purpose-related heavy vehicles intending to ply in Cuttack need to get permission from the district administration and police.
The opening ceremony is slated to be held at Barabati Stadium on January 11.
The quadrennial tournament, which Odisha is hosting for the second consecutive time, will be held at Bhubaneswar and Rourkela from January 13 to 29, 2023.
